The Beginning: New Website, Same Us!

The Beginning: New Website, Same Us!

Welcome Here... The new Vinty Moon Company Website and my new blog....

The Intrusive Thoughts of Mylissa A.

I can't really promise all things light and fluffy in this blog, but I can say that it will be generally business related, with some weird stuff mixed in... because that is just who I am.

But for now.... lets look at how this all got started!

I started my business in August of 2020 from an Airbnb in Cocoa Beach, FL. My family was displaced from our home due to a fire and my job at a local event florist had come to a instant halt due to Covid-19. My husband set up his laptop in the corner of the front room and I sat at the kitchen bar and decided... today is the day. I am going to start my business.

There was no question that I was going to sell vintage. I had experience selling on Ebay and Poshmark for years and was successful with it, but hated the fees associated with having these accounts.

The Sale that made the most impact on me (and created an obsession with the past) was a box of letters I acquired written by Blair T. Hunt in the 1930's. I listed them on Ebay and sold them to a lady who was absolutely over the moon. There were love letters, letters about power being installed in the town, fun paperwork from Booker T Washington HS where he was the principal. I loved getting it back to the city it belonged. I loved the nostalgia these letters brought to the woman, whose grandmother had worked with the author. It was magical in a sense.

My shop has evolved since I began two years ago and I have incorporated more of my weird self into the products I sell and the things I make. I still work in the floral industry and am crazy about flowers, dead or alive. The doll heads I sell are a reflection of my doll obsession I have had since I was a child.  I love finding beauty in darkness, but also enjoy the whimsical feeling of a fairy garden.

If you find yourself at the end of this post... thank you for reading! I am excited to continue this website journey that has taken a summer vacation! My hopes are that it is more cohesive and more user friendly. I will be adding more products as I go and will be providing a limited stock of my new items to provide a more exclusive and limited shopping experience. I want to keep things fresh and ever changing!
